Yes, You've Got ESP
May 2, 2010
Hello,
Pop! Spark! Flame in your brain.
You've got a new goal, and
you're all fired up.
It could be any goal, but let's say it's getting
your body in shape - once
and for always.
Eating better. Exercising regularly. Building
fitness. Dropping weight.
Feeling good about you.
Sure, just like a brand new shiny toy, your renewed
commitment is exciting
and stimulating at first, but
often the shine wears off. Dullness and boredom
creep in.
Your goal, like the toy, is abandoned.
Building health and shedding the
fluff seemed like a good
idea. This time you were really ready - at least
you thought so.
But as
comfortable old habits sneak back into your life,
good intentions and
determination fade.
So what's the key to hanging in there until you've
reached your goal? That
first spark, a simple plan, a commitment?
Yes, they're important, but they
will fizzle unless you have....
Staying Power.
It takes Staying Power to shift
your thinking about food
choices and fill up on the best-for-you foods -
fresh fruits and vegetables -
crowding out the bad-for-you foods.
It takes Staying Power to
exercise - every day.
It takes Staying Power to retrain spoiled little
taste buds and de-velcro
yourself from lifelong food attachments and addictions.
It takes Staying Power to do the
uncomfortable, like move away
from those foods that deplete you, until it gets
comfortable and actually
love those foods that feed you.
It takes Staying Power to choose
the best-for-you foods even
though cookies, cheeses, breads, meats, chips, and
fat- and cholesterol-rich
salmon constantly threaten to fly into your
open-like-a-baby-bird mouth.
It takes Staying Power to make
good-for-you choices, even though everyone
around you doesn't, and thinks you're nuts besides.
It takes Staying Power to do
what is right for you and stick to
it no matter what the nay-sayers cry.
It takes Staying Power to stay
the course with that I'm-gonna-do-it-no-matter-what
determination.
It takes Staying Power to get back on track after
doing the inevitable -
straying off track time and time and time again.
It takes Staying Power to
believe in yourself, dig deep,
and get through the predictable that comes with any
change: frustration,
overwhelm, isolation, and getting stuck in mental muck.
It takes Staying Power to reap
the exhilarating reward of looking
in the mirror and saying from your heart,
"I did it! If I can do this, I
can reach any goal I want. It just takes . . .
Staying
Power."
Question: Do you have Staying Power?
Answer: Of
course you do. It takes Staying Power to go to school,
raise kids, build a
relationship, get a job, perform well at your job,
take care of an aging parent, or
just be there for a friend in need.
As you've proven to yourself
over and over, there's no question.
You've got not just Staying Power, but Extraodinary
Staying Power to say "Yes"
to the success of taking care of you, the most important
job of your life - for life.
Love and hugs
to you,
For your health and life,

P.S. "What's
Left to Eat?" is one of my favorite presentations. Why?
Because it's just plain fun! My
darling daughter, Erin,
will be joining me in Monday's event.
Guarantee - this mother/daughter
team will tickle your funny bone
(my daughter is hilarious just being herself), warm
your heart, and give you
lots of practical tips to make it easier to get
up in the morning and say, "What
do I get to eat today!"
instead of "What do I have to give up?"
This Monday, tomorrow, May 3rd,
6:30 to 7:30, at the Lodge, off 5th Avenue.
We are packed with reservations,
but who knows - maybe you're supposed
to be there too! Call us at 360.683.8844.
As always,
there will be handouts, drawings, free offers and giggles -
lots and lots of giggles.
