Diabetes Type 2: "The Med-Free Solution” By Dr. Leslie Van Romer
Dr. Narinder Duggal says, “Genetics loads the gun, choices pull the trigger.” Meaning, what we eat (or don’t), how much we exercise (or don’t), and self-destructive habits like smoking are the bad guys, not our genes, which we have no control over.Whether it’s called heart disease, many cancers, strokes, obesity, or hypertension, they predominately have one common cause – us and our daily choices. Type 2 diabetes is no different. “Type 2 diabetes is a preventable disease,” says Dr. Duggal. And
just who is this Dr. Duggal? He is the medical doctor, board certified
internist, pharmacist and expert in diabetes, osteoporosis, cancer,
hypertension, aging, lipids, and more, practicing in Poulsbo, WA, who
sat across from me in my office and said, Whoa – quite the statement from an M.D., don’t you think? And, if drugs could be reduced or eliminated with weight loss in diabetes type 2, then what about those with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and other problems? I was beyond excited to join forces with Dr. Duggal, who looked more like an angel to me than a doctor (oh, please don’t tell him I said that – I wouldn’t want to embarrass him). Dr. Duggal, an internationally renowned authority and lecturer for his colleagues on diabetes (this doc teaches the docs), as well as many other health issues, also says: -
“his goal is to cure type 2 diabetes, not just treat or control
diabetes.” -
“curing diabetes saves time: time spent at doctor’s offices and all the
fussing with the disease.” -
“curing diabetes saves heart ache for you and your family.” Did you know that: -
You can have diabetes 10 years before you or your doctor know it? -
You can and should eat whole fresh fruit when you have type 2 diabetes? The latest clinical study with 1079 participants (“Diabetes Care,” 2006; 29:2102-2107) concludes: Patients that lose just 5% to 7% of their body weight and who meet physical activity (2.5 hours/week) and dietary fat goals reduced risk of developing diabetes by greater than 90%. Whoa—that’s a huge amount of risk reduction without that much effort. Furthermore, weight loss (only 5% to 7%) itself is the primary factor resulting in reduced diabetes. What about you? Do you want to just treat and/or try to control your type 2 diabetes while you likely watch your body waste away or do you want to get rid of diabetes once and for all? The choice is yours. |
